Wuling Summer 2006
Sunday - Tuesday, September 3rd - 5th --
Part 1, Maine trip: Boston, MA. to Penobscot Bay, ME.
The sea never looks very rough in photos...departed Sunday afternoon from Shipyard Quarters Marina in Charlestown, MA. Heading out the North Channel from Boston with 7' - 10' seas into a long overnight shooting directly up to the Gulf of Maine. Monhegan Island appeared mid-day Monday just after a hot enchilada lunch. Picked up a mooring amidst a harborful of lobster boats in Carver's Harbor at the southern tip of Vinalhaven in the mid-afternoon. A calm evening and beautiful sunset made our arrival in Maine most peaceful.
First stop, Monday evening, in Carver's Harbor ;
Chris goes for his first swim on our trip to Maine
and a beautiful sunset.
En route to Penobscot Bay; Ling untangling fishing lines; Monhegan island spotted on the horizon, beneath the clouds.
On Tues., all dinghies no lobster boats; first lobsters. Chris uses kayak to explore, clean Wuling's bottom and discover the
absence of our portside porthole coverings which were lost in the heavy seas en route to Maine.
Photographed lobster pots instead of the seals we saw leaving Carver's Hbr.
Can Jed identify any of these island shots?
